An interesting point to bear in mind when examining various understandings of these visions and prophecies is that for centuries, both Jews and Christians viewed the prophecies and visions as having been fulfilled. That is also the conclusion that an honest evaluation will lead one to. It is only in the last couple of hundred years that there have been interpretations that many of the prophecies refer to the times immediately preceding the expected 2nd coming or return of Jesus Christ.
